BC Clipboard OCR's main tool, available at clipboardocr.com, is a general OCR tool for text extraction and conversions (date, amount and unit format, search & replace, and text capitalisation). We also offer purpose-built tools: Perseus (fast OCR with table extraction and date/amount conversion), Convorcet OCR (search & replace plus advanced unit conversion), Croesus Rates OCR (currency exchange conversion) and Milcheaufsnutgluten (allergen & intolerance scanner). Confidential mode offers this same general text extraction and conversion functionality, but with 100% local processing and no AI. This Privacy Policy applies to all of them, except where a section below says otherwise.
Most of our tools extract text in two steps: first locally, in your browser; if image quality or local confidence is too low, AI-based extraction via the Anthropic API is triggered automatically — or offered to you, depending on your saved preference. Even when AI-based extraction is not triggered automatically, you can request it manually to try to improve the result — in every tool except Confidential mode, which never uses AI. In Perseus, Table mode always uses AI to read a table's structure, so the image is sent to the Anthropic API every time you use it. Images sent to Anthropic are processed in real time solely to extract text or table data, and are not stored, logged or used for any training purposes; we do not retain any image data after processing. Confidential mode is the only one of our tools that is 100% local and never contacts the Anthropic API or any other external server — see below.
Milcheaufsnutgluten can use your device's location, with your permission, only to speed up finding nearby pharmacies or medical centres via Google Maps. Your location is used solely on your device to build the map link — it is never sent to or stored on our servers.
Milcheaufsnutgluten only searches the extracted text for the specific allergens and keywords listed in its "Allergens & intolerances we detect" section, which you can edit and customise. Your customised list is saved only in your browser's local storage on your own device — clipboardocr.com never receives this data. If you clear your browser's site data, you will lose this customisation. It is an assistance tool and does not replace reading the original product label. We do not store any allergen search results, label images or extracted text.
If you contact us via the contact form, your email address and message are stored securely via Netlify Forms — see Netlify's Privacy Policy for details on how they handle this data. This data is used only to respond to your enquiry and is not shared with any third party.
clipboardocr.com does not operate any databases of its own: we do not receive or store, on our servers, any image, extracted text or browsing data. Data saved in your device's local storage (such as your customised allergen list) is never received by us. The only data we do receive is what you voluntarily send us via the contact form (handled by Netlify Forms). For that reason, we do not sell, trade or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.

BC Clipboard OCR offers a confidential processing mode available at clipboardocr.com/confidential. For corporate evaluation and technical documentation, see How Confidential mode works. In this mode, all image processing is performed locally within your browser using on-device technology. No image data is sent to any external server, API or third-party service. This mode does not use the Anthropic API. No data of any kind leaves your device during processing. The confidentiality of this mode depends on the security of your own browser and clipboard on your device — for example, browser extensions, browser sync, or your operating system's clipboard history or sync, if enabled, are outside our control.
If we detect any error, we may update this privacy policy at any time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date.
