BC Clipboard OCR is a family of free online tools built around OCR (text and table extraction from images), combining on-device recognition with AI-assisted extraction (powered by the Anthropic API) when needed. The core tool offers image-to-text extraction plus additional processing such as word search, date and amount format conversion, a conversion factor calculator, and text capitalisation. Related, purpose-built tools are described in the next section. All tools are available via web browser and as an installable Progressive Web App (PWA).

Except in Confidential mode, our tools extract text in two steps. Text is first recognised locally, in your browser, using on-device OCR. If image quality or the local extraction's confidence is too low for a reliable result, the tool automatically offers AI-based extraction via the Anthropic API — or applies it automatically, without asking again, if you have previously saved that preference. In Perseus, Table mode works differently: because reading a table's structure reliably requires AI, it always sends the image to the Anthropic API on every use, regardless of local extraction quality.
Images sent to the Anthropic API are processed in real time solely for the purpose of extraction and are not stored, retained or used for any other purpose. We do not keep copies of your images after processing, and BC Clipboard OCR does not store, log or retain any image or personal data submitted through any of our tools. Confidential mode (clipboardocr.com/confidential) is the only one of our tools that is 100% local: it never uses AI and never sends any image or document data to our servers or to any third party, including Anthropic.
Regarding the AI processing layer, Anthropic's privacy policy addresses their approach to the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) — please refer to the Anthropic Privacy Policy for full details. For details on how BC Clipboard OCR handles your data, see our Privacy Policy.
BC Clipboard OCR combines local optical character recognition — using the open-source Tesseract.js engine — with AI-based extraction. While results are generally accurate, they may contain errors depending on image quality, font, language or layout. In Confidential mode, you can choose between four local extraction modes (C1–C4), each optimised for a different type of document, to help improve accuracy. You are responsible for verifying the extracted text before using it in any critical context. We do not accept liability for decisions made based on inaccurate OCR output.
The conversion factor feature (available in the main tool, Perseus and Konvorcet OCR) multiplies numeric values found in the extracted text by a user-defined factor that you enter manually. It does not connect to any live exchange rate feed and does not provide financial advice. We accept no responsibility for errors arising from the use of this feature.
Croesus Rates OCR works differently: it fetches the European Central Bank's daily reference exchange rate via the free Frankfurter.dev service, and also lets you retrieve and export historical ECB reference rates for a chosen date range (up to 5 years back). This is a daily reference rate, published once per working day, not a continuously live market rate, and is cached for the rest of the day. It is provided for convenience only and does not constitute financial advice; before making any financial decision, please consult the central bank relevant to your region or a qualified professional. We accept no responsibility for decisions made based on these rates.
Milcheaufsnutgluten is an assistance tool: it only searches the extracted text for the specific allergens, intolerances and keywords listed in its "Allergens & intolerances we detect" section, which you can review and customise at any time. It does not detect undeclared traces, manufacturing errors, or anything outside that list, and it is not a certified medical device. Using this tool does not replace reading the original product label, and you should always consult the manufacturer or a health professional if you have any doubt. We accept no liability for allergic reactions or other harm arising from reliance on the tool's output.
We aim to keep BC Clipboard OCR available at all times, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The service may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, technical issues or circumstances beyond our control. We reserve the right to modify or discontinue the service at any time without prior notice.

BC Clipboard OCR offers a confidential processing mode at clipboardocr.com/confidential — see also technical documentation for corporate evaluation. In this mode, all text extraction is performed locally within the user's browser using on-device technology. No image or document data is transmitted to any external server or third-party service, including the Anthropic API. This mode is provided as-is and without warranty as to OCR accuracy. The same terms regarding acceptable use, accuracy of results and intellectual property apply to the confidential mode as to the standard version.
These Terms of Use are governed by the laws of Spain. Any disputes arising from or in connection with these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Valencia, Spain.
We may update these Terms of Use from time to time. Continued use of the tool after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms. The date of the last update is shown at the top of this page.
